Can I recycle this from home?

A few months ago I decided to print out some recycling guidance to stick above our bins as a gentle reminder of what can and can't be recycled....only problem was, I couldn't find anything to print! So I started to doodle my own version, researching items that I wasn't sure about and learning along the way. Then, something in my brain shouted "EMBROIDER THIS!", so I did, and then I took a photo of it and stuck it next to our bins. And now, so can you, for free! Click here to download the PDF for free. Please feel free to share it far and wide - I would love to see this in households, offices and schools!

This poster is by no means an exhaustive list - obviously! I tried to include items that are commonly misunderstood, but there are of course hundreds more! Most importantly, make sure items are clean and dry before you put them in the recycling, and check labels if in doubt (or Google it!)

A few disclaimers - this is correct for kerbside recycling bins in Cardiff (and the majority of UK councils), but please check your own council's guidance for any differences. Some items that you can't recycle in kerbside recycling can still be recycled elsewhere (e.g. plastic bags can't be recycled in our green bin bags, but you can take them to collection points at many supermarkets). And finally, it's important to note that recycling is a great way to help our environment, but you should first try to REDUCE your waste and REUSE it where possible.
